Show your support for Adult Day Services

February 13, 2013

[Click here for testimony provided before the Health and Human Services Committee on February 13, 2013 from Susan Garascia, RN, a Spectrum Generations employee who runs the adult day services program there.  Garascia emphasized the critical public policy issues at play in fully funding adult day services in Maine, which allows family caregivers to remain in the workforce. Contact your legislators to show your support.]

On Wednesday, February 13th at 9:00 at Room 209, Cross State Office Building, Augusta, the Health & Human Services Committee will hold a public hearing on LD 62, an Act to Provide Additional Funding for Respite Care for the Elderly.  We are looking for family caregivers who benefit from Adult Day Services to testify in support of additional funding for these services.  We need to emphasize that these programs allow caregivers to remain active in our workforce and keep those in need of services out of long term care.  We would be very pleased to assist you with your testimony if you’re able to come.  You can also provide written testimony if you’re unable to attend the hearing.  Written testimony should be received by the HHS Clerk, Benjamin French at benjamin.frech@legislature.maine.gov before the public hearing.
